Most famous for being home to the sensational Pitons, Soufriere is a beautiful fishing town in the southwest of St Lucia. Many moons ago, Soufriere was the capital of St Lucia (it’s now Castries), so you might expect it to be bustling, busy, and the go-to area for large all-inclusive resorts, but it isn’t. So, if you’re staying here, you’ll probably want to know what the best restaurants in Soufriere are.
There isn’t an abundance of choice when compared to the Rodney Bay area, but you’ll find a selection of tasty places offering everything from traditional local cuisine to upmarket, fine dining experiences.
1. Orlando’s Restaurant & Bar
We couldn’t not rate Orlando’s as one of the best restaurants in Soufriere because it offered something we never expected to find in this little corner of the world. Chef Orlando serves up a five-course tasting menu, and it’s truly just divine.
Unbelievably, this was our first tasting menu experience, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The dishes were packed with local ingredients, and it was the perfect opportunity to try authentic St Lucian cuisine with a fine-dining twist.
The service was also spectacular, and Chef Orlando took the time to make his way around the room, chatting to all the guests.
2. JaLousie Grill @ Sugar Beach
If you’re in Soufriere, you have to visit Sugar Beach (it’s one of the best beaches in St Lucia), and JaLousie is a great spot to grab some lunch. Nestled between Gros and Petit Piton, there is no better place to embrace the sheer magnitude of these mountains.
While JaLousie Grill is on the expensive side, there’s a great choice of food, served in a style you’d expect from a 5-star resort. We shared an appetiser and a salad and were more than satisfied.
Honestly, you could give the restaurant a miss and bring some food with you and eat on the beach. But we included JaLousie on our best restaurants in Soufriere list purely for its once-in-a-lifetime location.
TOP TIP: You don’t need to be a guest of the Sugar Beach Resort to dine at their restaurants. Also, if you’re using the restaurants, you’ll be able to get a free shuttle bus down and back up to the parking lot (it’s a long and steep walk otherwise).

3. Treetop Restaurant
Wow. There is no better way to describe Treehouse Restaurant. This place is our favourite restaurant in Soufriere. The food, the service, the ambience, the decor, the view – everything is on point.
As the name suggests, Treetop Restaurant sits above the rainforest canopy, in a treehouse-like building. They serve up delicious Indian-inspired cuisine, and we thought every dish on the set menu was to die for.
From the moment we walked in, the staff were unbelievably attentive. While our table was being readied, we were shown to the upper deck with a cocktail to take in the most awe-inspiring view, and our evening just got better from there.
It’s a little pricier than some of the other places to eat in Soufriere, but it’s definitely worth the extra cost.
Put simply, you just have to go to Treetop. You’ll have missed out big time if you don’t.
4. The Beacon
Come for the view, stay for the tasty traditional St. Lucian and Caribbean food. Sat atop a hill looking down across Soufriere toward the majestic pitons, The Beacon is a great spot for a drink or to stop for lunch. When we walked in here, our jaws hit the floor. We thought the view would be impressive, but not this good!
The Beacon is a buffet-style restaurant offering simple but tasty local options. It’s not spectacular food, but the service is warm and welcoming. Honestly, even if you want to eat somewhere else, you have to stop here for a drink, just for the views. But, we think it’s ideal for a casual lunch in between exploring the best things to do in Soufriere.

5. Project Chocolat
Most people head to Project Chocolat to learn about, and take part in, the production of St Lucian chocolate (which is an incredible experience, by the way), but we also discovered what we think is one of the best restaurants in Soufriere.
As part of the Tree to Bar Experience at Project Chocolat, you get lunch included. However, this is lunch with a twist…every dish has chocolate included! Chicken roti in a chocolate-infused wrap – yes, please! White chocolate mashed potato – delicious!
The food served up at Project Chocolat is unique, and you’ll never have enjoyed anything like it. It’s served street food style from food trucks, and there’s a broad selection to choose from. We loved our meal here. It was the perfect addition to the Bean to Bar Experience.

6. Island Chef
Centrally located in Soufriere Farmer’s Market, our last place on the best restaurants in St Lucia list, but by no means least, is Island Chef. This is the most unassuming restaurant – it looks like a food kiosk, but don’t be fooled. This is an epic waterfront dining spot that serves up 10/10 healthy St Lucian food. Speedo, the owner, takes great pride in what he does and is incredibly welcoming – you won’t find service like this anywhere else.
Usually, there are only 2 options on the menu, a vegan option and a fish option, with the ingredients changing based on what is in season and what’s available. Lunch here is served daily, but if you want to head down for breakfast or dinner, it’s best to make a reservation with seating limited.
Top Tip: The best day to visit the Soufriere Farmer’s Market is Saturday Morning, and we suggest trying to get there early.
Summing up the best places to eat in Soufriere
Okay, Soufriere isn’t packed with incredible restaurant choices, and you’ll definitely find more options in the Rodney Bay area. However, the restaurants we’ve included in this list are all worth visiting. Even if you’re staying further north, we recommend making the long journey for Treetop or an afternoon at Project Chocolat.
Our top tip for finding the best restaurants in Soufriere
If you’re looking for places to eat in Soufriere in 2025, we’d suggest looking at the most recent reviews on Google Maps or Tripadvisor. As with a lot of Caribbean islands, restaurant experiences can change quickly. Because the islands are transient places, chefs and staff can change frequently, meaning you aren’t guaranteed the experience we had. So, go a bit further than what we’ve written here and do a little bit of your own research too.
Is Soufriere worth visiting?
Yes, definitely! We spent around a week in Soufriere and wish we had stayed longer. Personally, we think it’s the best place to stay in St Lucia, because it’s quieter, incredibly beautiful and where most of the best things to do in St Lucia are.
A lot of tourists head for the northwest of the island, where many all-inclusive resorts are located. However, some end up disappointed when they learn that all of the waterfalls, sulphur springs, and best excursions in St Lucia are in and around Soufriere.
So, if you haven’t booked your accommodation yet, don’t underestimate this area of the island – you’ll love it!
