2. Barra Vieja
Barra Vieja is probably our favourite place to eat near Rosarito. This hidden gem is a beer lovers’ paradise but is amazing even if beer isn’t your thing. The menu is Mexican and Asian fusion, and the food is amazing! We can particularly recommend the tuna tostada – 3 months in Mexico, and it was the best we had!
As for drinks, there are 20+ beers, lagers and IPAs on tap, some homebrewed and most of them locally brewed. And, you can try before you buy too. During our month-long stay in the area, we went to Barra Vieja 3 times and would go back many times more if we could, the food, service, and overall experience were perfect.
3. Splash
Just a few doors down from the beautiful Encanto, you’ll find the equally aesthetic Splash. Sat right on the cliffs, with waves spraying up on rough days (hence the name Splash). We’d suggest going to Splash on weekends – it’s a favourite spot that gets busy and comes alive with live music in the evenings.
The service is spot on, a wide choice of local, national and international food means there’s something for everyone, and the location is to die for. An unassuming taco place is the next stop on our tour of the best restaurants in Rosarito. Located in Primo Tapia, a short drive outside Rosarito, Mariscos La Alegria is a family-owned spot that cooks up the freshest and tastiest of seafood tacos. The friendly ladies working here make every visit personable and memorable.
Choose between flour or corn tacos, select your filling and add toppings to your liking (they bring cabbage, onion, and pico de gallo to the table so you can serve yourself). Our favourite was garlic shrimp on flour tortillas…all we can say is wow! They’re super flavourful and filling.

Sitting on the side of the highway on the outskirts of Rosarito isn’t somewhere you’d expect to find amazing pizza, yet here we are, tucking into some of the finest pizza we’ve ever had! While the prices are a little on the expensive side at Ollie’s Brick Oven Pizza, we felt the pizza was definitely worth it.
Ollie’s is a popular spot, but it’s a pretty big place, so you shouldn’t struggle to get a table. The service was rapid, with plenty of staff on hand at all times, no matter how busy it got. Overall, Ollie’s is definitely high on our list of the best restaurants in Rosarito.
