As a mountainous tropical island, it will come as no surprise that there are breathtakingly beautiful waterfalls in Grenada. Some have been developed into hotspots for tourists and locals to gather, while others are left untouched, deep in the luscious rainforest.

Having spent around a month on the island, doing our best to visit as many Grenada waterfalls as possible, we’ve put together a list of the ones we think are worth visiting. Whether you visit the hotpots or hike to secluded waterfalls, you’re in for a treat in Grenada.

The Must-See Waterfalls in Grenada

1. Annandale Waterfall & Forest Park

grenada waterfalls annandale falls
grenada waterfalls annandale falls

One of the easiest waterfalls to get to is Annandale. Located less than a 20-minute drive inland from St George’s. Also, there’s no hike to reach the falls, so it’s ideal for all visitors.

Annandale is one of the most visited waterfalls in Grenada, and because of this, it’s well-prepared for visitors. From the main road, you take a short walk down a wide, paved path, meaning no navigating trails or scrambling rocks.

To reach the falls, you pass through a restaurant called Wild Orchid – more on this place later.

The waterfall itself is a beautiful spot. While not impressively big, the water falls over the rocks into a large pool and then flows away down the river. There’s a spot for those brave enough to jump in and shallow areas for those wanting to relax, cool off and appreciate the surrounding rainforest.

How Long Is The Hike?: No hiking is required

Entrance Cost: $10 EC per person

Wild Orchid Restaurant at Annandale Waterfall & Forest Park

Aside from the beautiful waterfall, this restaurant is another reason why you could spend a few hours at Annandale Falls. This three-story venue offers a huge selection of drinks and food – especially cocktails. It’s perfectly perched overlooking the waterfall, so you can easily sit here, relax, and enjoy some good food and a drink whilst admiring your surroundings.

In all honesty, the service was a little slow when we were there, but the food was great, and we didn’t mind too much since we were on the top floor, looking down at the falls, people-watching and enjoying the atmosphere.

2. Concord Falls

Just 30 minutes up the west coast from St George’s, you’ll find the awe-inspiring Concord Falls. The journey here is a beautiful coastal drive, offering exceptional views and the opportunity to experience local fishing towns and villages.

The powerful Concord waterfall crashes over the rock face into a deep, swirling pool. There are areas to sit and relax, swim, or if you’re brave enough, there are cliff jumping spots of varying heights. You might even find some locals daring to jump from near the top of the falls – in exchange for a tip.

This can get a little busy (by Grenada standards) because it’s super accessible. It’s located down one set of stairs from the road. In fact, you can look down at the waterfall from the car park, which is a stunning view in itself since it’s surrounded by lush greenery. You’ll find local vendors selling souvenirs, a shop and a bar on the road before you head down to the falls.

How Long Is The Hike?: No hiking is required

Entrance Cost: $1 US or $2.50 EC per person

Au Coin & Fountainbleu

In conversation, and often when booking tours, Concord Falls refers to three different waterfalls grouped together. If you’re keen on a hike, you could take the journey from Concord Falls to Au Coin and Fountainbleu waterfalls.

From Concord, Au Coin is a 45-minute hike through an old nutmeg plantation along a well-marked trail. Once there, you’ll be greeted by a bigger and taller waterfall with a pool for swimming.

Then, onward from Au Coin, you have a further 2 hours to reach Fountainbleu. Again, this is considered to be a more impressive waterfall than Concord. However, if you aren’t prepared for the lengthy hikes, Concord is still an amazing experience.

Do I Need A Guide?: Yes

How Long Is The Hike?: 45 minutes – 2 hours 45 minutes each way

Entrance Cost: A local will take you up and expect to tip

3. Royal Mount Carmel Falls

Located on the east coast, around a 50-minute journey from St Georges, you’ll find the highest waterfall in Grenada, cascading over 70 feet down the rocks and into a pool below.

At the main waterfall, you can easily climb up the rocks and head under the waterfall to enjoy a natural massage from the water above, or you can swim in the large shallow pool to the left of the falls. But, it was the second waterfall that stole our hearts.

On your way to the main waterfall, you pass a beautiful hidden gem. Not so much a waterfall, but more of a natural waterslide ending with a splash in a large pool at the bottom. To get there – head down some steps, across the river and follow the trail. Again, it’d be hard to get lost as the paths are well-marked and maintained.

We loved Royal Mount Carmel Falls. It was probably our favourite waterfall in Grenada because of the atmosphere. Although this spot can get quite busy, you won’t be hassled by vendors or see any shops. Usually, they’ll be groups of families and friends grilling some food and having a good time.

From the entrance at the main road, you’ll take a leisurely hike of around 10-15 minutes through the rainforest and private plantations. It’s near-impossible to get lost and isn’t a strenuous hike at all.

Do I Need A Guide?: No

How Long Is The Hike?: 10-15 minutes each way

Entrance Cost: $1 US or $2.50 EC per person

4. Seven Sisters Falls

You might have guessed by the name, but there are a total of seven waterfalls at this amazing spot! With varying degrees of difficulty to get to, and some pretty crazy hiking and climbing, you can tick them all off. However, most people opt to go to just one, the most popular and shortest hike.

Located on the edge of Grand Etang National Park, it’s around a 30-minute drive from St George’s. Once you arrive, you can expect a hike of around 30 minutes to get to the first of the seven sisters. It’s a well-marked trail, but as you get closer to the falls it becomes a little more challenging to find your way. You’ll be able to see and hear the falls.

The aim is to reach an area where you can safely cross the river. We kept to the right for as long as possible. Then, the trail went left and became a little overgrown, but it brought us out at a shallow crossing, leading to an open space above the lower falls and adjacent to the upper falls.

If you’re only planning on visiting the first waterfall, the hike here is possible without a guide. We managed it without, but wouldn’t have attempted going any further alone.

As the pictures show, this is definitely one of the most picturesque waterfalls in Grenada. It’s a two-tier waterfall, with water flowing out of an opening surrounded by the canopy of the rainforest, down into a beautiful large pool before cascading down the rockface into the second lower pool.

Do I Need A Guide?: No if you’re confident with hiking and only looking to go to the first waterfall. Yes, for further exploring.

How Long Is The Hike?: 30-minutes each way

Entrance Cost: $2 US or $5 EC per person

5. Golden Falls

Golden Falls is the only hot and cold waterfall in Grenada, which we thought was incredibly cool. The waterfall is a mixture of orange and golden in colour, which is caused by sulphur in the water.

What makes this place unique is that you can feel freezing cold fresh water cascading over the top of the falls, while at the same time feeling warm water coming from the rock face.

This place is buried deep in the rainforest toward the base of Mount Horne, and it’s a challenging hike to get to the falls, weaving in and out of the river, navigating rocks, and using ropes to manoeuvre rock faces, but the reward is most definitely worth it.

Although the hike is challenging, it’s incredibly beautiful and shaded most of the way. As you make your way deep into the rainforest, toward to base of the mountain, you’ll encounter local farmland covered with nutmeg, cacao, and many other tropical fruits.

waterfalls in grenada Golden Falls

The hike is approximately 1 ½ – 2 hours each way, so you’ll need to be physically fit to attempt this one. Also, it’s not recommended to take the journey without a guide. It isn’t an obvious trail to follow, and you’ll need assistance to get to the main waterfall.

We booked our hike with Real Grenadian Taxi & Tours (+1 (473) 418-1921). They’re one of, if not the only company, providing tours to Golden Falls. Included in the tour was a tour guide and the option of food, local juice and a beer at the end.

As the hike is lengthy and will be dictated by how fast the other members of your group walk, be sure to take plenty of water and a few energy-boosting snacks.

Do I Need A Guide?: Yes

How Long Is The Hike?: 1 ½ – 2 hours each way

How Much Does It Cost?: $65 EC per person + and additional cost for lunch (optional)

6. Tufton Hall Waterfall

To complete the roundup of the best waterfalls in Grenada, let’s talk about the tallest one! A challenging hike reserved for experienced hikers and physically fit individuals – it can take up to 3 hours to reach the base of Tufton Hall waterfall. However, when you get there, you’re greeted by a jaw-dropping 25m high waterfall, sulphur springs, and refreshing pools to prepare you for the return journey.

As you might expect, you need a guide to take this journey, the terrain is rugged and difficult to navigate, so it’s best to have someone experienced to show you the way. The best-recommended tour guide is Nature Lovers Tours Grenada (+1 (473) 417-8207).
