When you think of Grenada and the reasons you want to visit, food probably isn’t one of them. However, you’re going to be surprised. We found some amazing restaurants in Grenada, from typical Caribbean and Grenadian places to a selection of top quality sushi, Indian and Italian food.
Overall, we loved many of the restaurants we visited in the month we spent on the island, and would return time and time again, so we wanted to share them with you.
1. Carib Sushi

If you’re on the hunt for sushi in Grenada, then you have to come to Carib Sushi. Let us start by saying, we had some of the best sushi we’ve ever had! Which was a huge surprise for us, because good sushi can be hard to find in the Caribbean.
We visited twice, the first time we sat outside, but the second time we were lucky enough to sit at the bar, where we could see the chefs preparing everything we ordered. Every item was freshly prepared and they even gave us a taste of a few other rolls they were preparing.
2. Antonio’s Restaurant & Pizzeria
If pizza and pasta are your vibe, then Antonio’s is right up your street. There is a huge section of freshly-made and traditionally cooked pizza, and the range of pasta is of the charts. You choose the type of pasta you want (they have pretty much everythign you can imagine), then pair it with you choice of sauce. You could come here every night for two weeks and have a different meal.
We loved it here so much that we visited three times during our month-long stay. The service is great, the portions are hearty (so much so we took leftovers with us every time!) and the atmosphere is chilled. It really is one of the best places to eat in Grenada.
If you love Italian food, you have to stop by this fantastic Italian restaurant. We found this place on our first night in Grenada and couldn’t believe our luck.
Overall, it’s probably the best Italian food we’ve had in the Caribbean we particularly recommend the lasagne, gnocchi, garlic focaccia breadsticks, and, of course, a healthy serving of their signature pizzas.

3. Umbrella’s Beach Bar
Umbrella’s Beach Bar is one of the best beach bars we’ve been to in the Caribbean, and it happens to be on one of the best beaches in the Caribbean, Grand Anse Beach. It’s a popular and lively spot that is great for grabbing lunch, grazing throughout the day or a sunset dinner on the beach. They do some tasty cocktails too. Although, beware of the Grenadian rum…it’s strong!
We had both lunch and dinner here on separate occasions, and it was busy and lively at all times of the day. In high season, it’s worth making a reservation for dinner, because Grand Anse is one of best beaches in Grenada, and Umbrella’s is probably the best spot on this long stretch of sand to grab a bite and some drinks, so it gets pretty busy.

4. Container Park
When looking for the best restaurants in Grenada, we weren’t expecting to find a street food market like Container Park. Having been to other Caribbean islands, we hadn’t seen anything like this – it’s something we expect in a UK city. But, anyway, Container Park, located near the St. George’s University campus, is an aesthetic outdoor space packed with a choice of vendors serving food and drink from around the world.
There are Japanese, Cuban, Indian, American, BBQ, Burgers, Turkish and more. The crowd is younger, with plenty of university students eating here, but it’s fun, lively and inclusive. The great part is, you can order from different containers and eat together anyway, with the tables being communal.

5. BB’s Crabback
BB’s Crabback is one of the most well-known Grenada restaurants, and has been visited by some famous people over the years, Oprah Winfrey, Ainsely Harriott, us… BB’s gave us some of the most flavoursome Caribbean cuisines we’ve ever eaten. It’s best known for two signature dishes, crabback and curried goat, which were both incredible, but the rest of the menu is tasty too.
Although the restaurant has recently been refurbished, don’t expect upscale dining. This place is Caribbean casual (as it should be). Another thing we loved is the location. It’s a quaint deck at the end of The Carenage in St George’s, so you get great views across the water back to the capital and towards Grand Anse beach.

6. Roger’s Barefoot Beach Bar
If you’re looking for somewhere to eat on a Sunday in Grenada, then you can’t go wrong with Roger’s Barefoot Beach Bar. Located on Hog Island, which is only accessible by boat (or a lengthy walk), Roger’s offers a classic beach BBQ and a boozy party atmosphere. Sunday is the day to visit, as Hog Island transforms from a peaceful spot with no one around to one of the most atmospheric spots in the country.
You’ll have a mixture of locals, tourists, students and boaties all gathered on Hog Island for a Sunday lime. It’s one of those quintessential Caribbean experiences you have to experience once.
The best way to get to Hog Island is via water taxi, but it’s well worth the journey. Grab a beer or a rum punch and tuck into some fresh grilled lobster, and you’ll have one of the best Sundays you’ve ever had.

7. Patrick’s Local Homestyle Restaurant
If you’re in St. George’s and wanting to try local food, Patrick’s Local Homestyle Restaurant is where you’ll want to be. This place is one of the best restaurants on the island if you want to try authentic Grenadian food. There are loads of dishes to choose from, but the star of the show is their famous Oil Down, which is Grenada’s national dish.
Patrick’s is a no-frills, unassuming and genuine approach to food. If you want an unpretentious dinner and to really enjoy Grenadian culture, then Patrick’s is a stop you have to make.

8. Spice Affair
Indian food in Grenada? Yes, please! We were pleasantly surprised to find Spice Affair in Grenada. This traditional yet modern and unbelievably delicious Indian restaurant was just what we needed after going six months without Indian food. It’s Lauren’s favourite, so you can imagine the anticipation of going here.
We found all of the food to be delicious and incredibly flavoursome. What we loved about this place is that they try to use as much local produce as possible, so many elements of the menu are seasonal. Which gave us assurances that our food was fresh.
Also, if you or someone in your party isn’t too keen on Indian cuisine, they have plenty of other Western options available, with their menu showing a few pasta dishes, burgers and other familiar items.
9. Aquarium
Aquarium Restaurant is on the sand at one of our favourite beaches in Grenada, Magazine Beach, which is right next to the airport. The menu is refined but has plenty of choices, including seafood, meats, pastas, tasting plates and a host of tapas-esque appetisers. Like many places, Sunday is a great day to visit because they have live music and a BBQ on the beach.
We visited in the day and had lunch, but it would also be a brilliant spot for sunset, much like Umbrella’s. However, in contrast to Umbrella’s, this is a more up-market vibe, and the prices reflect that.

10. Dexter’s Restaurant
Dexter’s is probably the most unique restaurant in Grenada as you’ll find a 5-course tasting menu of exceptional locally-inspired dishes at this tiny, unassuming restaurant. There are only a handful of tables here! But, if you’re a true foodie, you’ll definitely want to visit, so be sure to make a reservation so you get in.
This is a spot for a special occasion, with a relaxed and intimate setting supported by exceptional service and high-end food. Usually, Chef Dexter takes time out from the kitchen to greet his guests and discuss the menu. This is a set menu, and the menu isn’t printed, because it changes all the time, so you’re in for a surprise too!
